I would try Lily's, Martha's or Hideaways'. I would NOT recommend Ruby's. I stayed there last June and it was extremely noisy; I didn't get a good night's sleep the entire week. If you're into non-stop partying, it would be the place to stay. If not, skip it.

Hola,

I can't help you with your questions...but I am interested in your writing? Is it a novel or ?? Just curious! Belize is a terrific place for inspiration regardless. Have fun!

Hello, I've stayed in Hotel del Rio several times. It is out of the town a little bit towards north near the Channel or River. They have some nice Cabanas right near the sea. They have a nice long pier, it is great for snorkeling and fishing. Of course, snorkeling around the piers is not as exciting as the reef, but it is still a kick. Fido and Linda were the owners, but i have not been there for two and a half years. There maybe a new owner, as there was a rumor someone else bought it. Overall, we really liked it, and this june we will be back hopefully. Best-Wishes, mel s........

Dear John Andre:
I agree with Trina we didn't care for Ruby either.
To noisy!! You get what you pay for...
We go every year in Feb and stay at Lilies.
Good price, Very clean, Friendly owner . Wonderful
Porch to sit and watch everything that is going on. Right in the middle of everything...
If I needed peace and quiet I probably would go to
the Tides. Nice place on the beach ,friendly owners, on the edge of town.
We are lucky this year and are going to rent a house on the beach right next to the Tides.
If you get a chance try a sunset cruise on the
El Gato Catamaran. It is SOOOOOOO relaxing.

I think The Tides is great, but I wouldn't put it in the budget category. I haven't checked rates lately, but last time they were in the US$85 range. Sanpedrano, Ruby's and couple of other places are really the only budget lodging in San Pedro. Most budget travelers are going to go to Caye Caulker, where The Tides would be a luxury property and there are only couple of places with doubles over US$100.
