and all are VERY excited about going to Belize. Most are ages ranging from40 - 53 and two teenage children. All seem so excited and planning what to do the 7 days we are there. I am not excited and am not sure why and am trying to get that way. I guess it is the unexpected I am not sure. I know part of it is the diving I am very anxious about that. So I am just trying to find something to excite me about getting there adn having some fun. Any suggestions or hints . Im desparate.

Scubabuddy,

Where ya from?

Once you land in AC, you'll have a wonderful experience. It's an amazing time, island time in fact, that will keep you coming back for more!

There's plenty to do...
Obviosuly, AC/Belize is a hot spot for Scuba diving -- 2nd largest barrier reef in the WORLD!

But for those who don't scuba dive, like myself, the snorkelling and swimming in the pristine waters is still quite exceptional! (You can still see much sea life without the scuba gear)

Plus, you can snorkel/swim/scuba dive with LIVE sharks, sea turtles, sting rays, and manatees. Unbelievable! Where else can you have that opportunity? Remember, you're not in some tank..this is the vast carribean sea!

Let's see...

There's also the jungle/Mayan ruin trips. Very educational and fun. It's nice to appreciate and wonder about the past...

There's also the catamarans! My personal favorite. They're all day trips you can take that take you to vairous islands, snorkelling, beach BBQ's, etc. The best part is the free flowing rum punch on board! smile

But, the reason why I love AC so much is the relaxation and the people of the island. You will never meet any people so friendly and inviting than on AC. The people make AC want it is...there's no haggling and the island is not infested by US corporations [yet]...there's nothing like sitting at Fido's, drinking with your friends and just admiring and relaxing in the sun with the ocean breeze. It's wonderful...the perfect decompression vacation from the busy, hectic, and stressful city life.

ABout 2 more weeks for me...and I'll be in AC Heaven...can't wait!!! *I'M* EXCITED!

Hope this helps a bit.
Take care.
Cheers.
JohnnyK. laugh smile cool :p

I'm returning to San Pedro soon...about 2 weeks away!!! Can't wait!

JohnnyK that was an excellent explanation of things to do in AC. I am a diver but not experienced and a little afraid of the deep (or maybe a LOT). I am from AUstin TX

How do you rent one of the catamarans. We are going through AMigos Del Mar for diving do they do the catamarans as well. DO you know the prices.

Are there internet cafes in AC to either email family in the states. ALso can I just use aninternational calling card to call the states.

You have helped. Im working hard to get excited.

I agree with O Jackie, we were just haaaapppppy to be going on vacation haha,(every chance we have to get away is a god send) my personal opinion is you could spend 7 days in the hammock, and have the best time of your life, because your in AC, i cant put my finger on just what makes it so special, i'm sure it is a number of things, the slow pace, the weather, the other tourists, but i think mainly its the people of San Pedro, some of the nicest we have ever met,(and that is not candy-being sweet or nice it is the truth) it has every thing you need, but is not as touristy (sp) as many other places are, I am so envious of all the people that have been going for years, we just learned of it a couple of years ago, and saved and made our first trip this January, we have traveled to different places and like to try new places, BUT to San Pedro we will return, hopefully again and agian!!!!!

So the 12 seater is a rush? Is that like the show where they said "the plane the plane"?

Thanks for all the comments. I am getting excited now. I have heard so much about the people.

So d othey really do massages there? Are there hammocks on the beach?

JohnnyK - Do you know of a place that will allow you in the water (snorkel/swim/scuba?) with manatees? We have been wanting to do that dive in Florida, but haven't had the chance yet. I was under the impression that getting in the water with the manatees in Belize was forbidden... am I wrong? We will be in A/C April 5-8. As always, any information will be much appreciated. :p
