Betta....are you a local born to Belize? I find your desire to correct everyone VERY unlike anyone I've met there in AC. Why are you so angry...would you prefer that those of us who come to AC stay home instead? Lighten up a bit will ya. Some of us really love Belize and would go out of our way to preserve it. I'll be at Holiday on April 20th...maybe I can buy you a cool drink and learn a bit from someone who lives there. Peace I'll even bring my Pink suit so NY has something to make fun of.
Life May Be a Beach...I prefer Reefs...

Caribbean Villas Hotel has an artifical reef under its pier that is fun to snorkel with lots of wildlife. It's no substitute for the real reef, but fun while you are around the hotel. They have a beautiful beach also, but again, swimming from the dock, not the shoreline, is the way to go. CV has some rooms for under $80; ask for discount from posted prices if you book directly. Great snorkeling guide is Alfonse Graniel, L'il Alfonse under "Goods & Services" menu above, phone: 614-5450; 226-3537; he is wonderful with people & fish; ask him about other snorkeling sites after you visit Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley. Enjoy your trip.

Hi. I just found you today. Thanks for all the information. We're planning a trip to AC in May. I've been researching on the internet and in travel booklets. Wow, confusing! Our main focus will be to go snorkeling, so this board and thread have been helpful.
We haven't decided where to stay yet, or if we should include a jungle/cave side trip. Also, the jellyfish sound bad...but maybe they're gone by May (hope, hope).
Thanks for all the info....I'll keep reading.

Hi Wezzie! you sure came to the right place to find answers, this board is amazing! somebody always has the answer. I don't think the jellyfish thing is that much of a threat, or else folks wouldn't keep coming back! enjoy your trip! planning is half the fun. *scratch scratch*

Hi Wezzie! Never met a jellyfish in all my years there, so probably not to worry. I bow to others who are more into snorkle than I am (we dive), but it wouldn't seem to me the best snorkle haven on earth. Also, NOT to scare you, but do keep in mind, there's quite a current at Hol Chan. Honestly, its harder to dive there than any place I dove anywhere else over the caye. A 50+ gentleman drowned there in February. Keep a guide near you, if it is a rough day. Shark/Ray has always seemed calmer, but that may just be when I went.

Hi Beachie. OK, this will come as no surprise to the regulars...check out the Paradise Resort Hotel at ParadiseResortHotelAmbergrisCaye.com. There least price is in the $70 range. I love the place.
