My son and I are planning our next vacation. We just got back from Costa Rico and want to visit Ambergris Caye next year. Our big thing is fishing. We would love to have opinions on where to stay. We are not looking for luxury but very clean and centerally located. May is the month we are considering. I noticed that some lodging has May in high season but others start low in June. We want to do all the fishing. Anything you could tell us about pricing would be greatly appreciated. I lived in Belize many years ago. Flora We want

Have you clicked on the fishing section on this website ? It is pretty good, it has quite abit of information. Overall Belize is a fisherman's haven. If you want to talk fishing my e-mail is jethrot1@msn.com. Best-Wishes, Mel S....

If fishing was my main priority on Ambergris, I would go to El Pescador Resort. Fishing Fishing Fishing.

Thanks Clo, will look into your suggestion. We really want to stay on the water. In other words out the door and onto the sand. Flora

El Pescador is right on the beach. Check them out on the Lodging link at the top of this page.

True, El Pescador is right on the beach, however, it is north of the cut. And now that we know a bit more about F095 . . .or rather his 21 year old son wanting to be near the action, perhaps they should be looking for a place to stay closer to town.

fo95, In May we fished with Captjeff and Bicho and son. Bicho will take you out, catch the bait with a net, find a great spot and catch fish - and lots of them. If the spot gets cold, he knows where to go to get the hits. We were pulling them in on almost every cast (when they didn't get the bait). We even followed a shark and caught the fish he was chasing, right in front of him - it was great. Had a great time while they provide the pop, water, or beer. Then they will clean the catch for you to take to any of the local restaurants to cook - (it's always good to give them some to take home). Check out his web site at bicho@fishingsanpedro.com Call Captjeff at 800-231-747 (Vaule Cruise Line) or e-mail: bicho@fishingsanpedro.com for more information and pictures.

River Shark has given you good fishing information above.
Since you might not want to stay at El Pescador, due to their cost, River Shark and Capt. Jeff have given Bicho thumbs up on catching fish. Fishing and catching fish are too different things.
Your 21 yr. old son wants to experience the night life and good food in San Pedro, stay in town at Sunbreeze and call Bicho. You will be happy.
Caye Caulker is much smaller and limited.

River Shark, is this the website that you meant to post for Bicho?

Thanks Rivershark and Chloe. I did not check this page until today. Sounds like our fishing is shored up. We caught 5 sails in Costa Rico - can't wait for a wider variety.
