Both Victoria House and Banyan Bay are closed for repairs in October, does anyone know why, bad weather? Any feedback on the Mata Chica resort?

October is huricane season, not as many tourists, so would be a good time to close for repairs. Do not know it that is the real reason or not. Plenty of other places to stay. A friend in south florida says: if the huricanes do not come, it is a nice place to be - about have the place to yourself.

I've been there in October and I doubt it's the weather....it's probably because it is low season and a good time to do it before the winter season crowds come. Try Banana Beach, it's very nice and the staff is wonderful and it's in between Vicotoria House and Banyan Bay.

It's the very, very slow time of the year. People close up to due maintenance more so than repairs. It is a sunny/tropical/ salt environment. Stuff kind of vaporizes in a very short time.

There are lots of other places open and a good time of year to go as less crowds, better prices and cooler weather

Because Oct is generally the slowest month of the year some resorts decide to shut down and give staff vacation time or do repairs construction etc.

Got nothing to do with weather as with the exception of a hurricane Weather in Oct is usally very nice.

I walked to Mata Chica several times from the SunDiver. It seemed to me to not be worth the money. Nice, but certainly not that much nicer than other places I've seen on the island.
