I've read several placed that the street vendors food is good, but I haven't seen any comments on them. Anybody admit to trying it?

We really liked the fish and chips at fido's. Battered snaper with cole slaw and french fries. Ummm good. Elvi's also good fish sandwish.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Cafe Picaso - pasta to die for. Not cheapest, but worth every penny. Good looking wait staff too.

Great places to dine on the island but my favorite was a little out of the way place, Cafe Picasso. Ambiance, romantic, wonderful service and lovely fresh ingredients in the heaveny food. The bar was fun and quiet enough to get to know the persons next to you. I'd highy recommend it. Also enjoyed going north to Sweet Basil. Nice place and good food also.

Lily's Treasure Chest is on the beach at Lily's Hotel - a few doors N of Fido's in town. Good food, pretty cheap prices, Belizean service wink Great people/fisherman/working folk watching spot.

Street vendors are great. I like Shirley's (about the 3rd or 4th in from the street) but all are busy and popular with the locals. I try not to eat anywhere there are no locals eating! If the place is full of tourists and the only Belizeans are working there - you know something is wrong (too expensive, bad food, "questionable" owner or operations.

In keeping with what Barbara has said, I repeat myself.

Jambel's on the town square near the beach, across from the street vendors, upstairs at a table looking towards the kids' park.
