Read an article in the San Pedro sun about this itchy rash that is "common" this time of year. Just how "common" is it? Harmless or not it sounds miserable. Any info on this would be great !! Any places to avoid ?? I did a search but couldn't find anything about this !! confused

pretty common. The locals bring windex (ammonia) when they go swimming and spray themselves after they get out of the water.

I found this one..

I purchased 2 bottles of Safe Sea, and haven't had to use it yet. Enjoy your trip.

Can the Safe Sea product be purchased on AC ?? That link from 2003 didn't sound like it, and I doubt I would be able to find it in Wisconsin. Hopefully the sunscreen trick will work. Or we can buy some windex I guess. Will have to check with folks when we get there.

I have been swimming alot this week and have heard of pica pica but have not gotten stung yet. Many of the boat captains carry some vinegar or windex with them on the boat just in case some body gets stung.

P.S. if you get stung apply windex and wear cool clothing, sweat makes it itch more cool

I followed this link to check out SeaSafe. My wife got stung by jellyfish in Hawaii and wan't happy. Last time we were in Cancun, we were eaten up by invisible jellyfish so I'm glad to see something like this. It's $9.95 a bottle of 4 oz. If it keeps us from getting pica pica it is well worth it!

Here is a cost saving hint. When purchasing, fill out your address, then hit "back". It will offer you free shipping ($5.95) if you continue with the order. To put it in perspective, that is almost two free Belikins!

I just bought two bottles, we should get them in plenty of time for our Sunday departure. I usually don't get bothered by insects and such, but the hubby does. Since nobody that has posted trip reports has complained, and Bzedoll hasn't had a problem, I am hoping they aren't out yet and that the article was just a heads up that they will be soon. In any case we will be prepared !!

I just got two also, thanks Phyllis for pointing this out. I wouldn't have thought about it until it was too late!

The last time we had a discussion like the Pedro2 (I think it was) from Protech came on and advised that he carried SafeSea in his shop. However, I'd want to ensure that he still had some before you lost your chance to purchase and receive delivery at home.

Protech, are you keeping SafeSea well-stocked this spring? If so, how does it seem to be working for everyone?
