suntam...I personally found Estel's to have quick service, that is compared to other places, and their burrito is huge and fantastic....breakfasts are out of this world too!!! Sorry....Mikell, but I found nothing quick at El Divino...it was always at least a 45 minute wait except when we ordered breakfast to our room...it did come quicker that way. But like everyone says...you've gotta learn to go with the flow...in Belizean time!!! And I agree...Caribe has great food & drinks...we loved their Chocolate Monkey's aka Dirty Bananas in Belize....oh, and don't forget Casa Picasso...they were quick and delicious too!!! And the Chinese place north of Caribe right near Banana Beach is great...takes 15-20 minutes for a take out order....Goody

Also VERY fast - Rubie's coffee shop. Johnny-cakes & beans; breakfast burritos; sweet rolls; meat pies, sandwiches. And - Celi's Deli - fast walk-away foods (burritos, tacos etc.)including good whole roast chicken. A pile of tortillas, a chicken and some hot sauce is a great on-the-boat or on-the-beach meal.

That word 'fast' and island time are 2 different things. Unless you stop in one of the deli's (and even then, if there are people in front of you...) you need to be prepared to wait, relax and enjoy a leisurely meal. On the flip side, Belize time, even for boats (exception is the ferry), sometimes run 10-15 minutes behind--that IS Belize time. I'm sure once you get there, you'll 'get it'. The rrrrrreeeeeeeellllllaaaaaxxx part of it!

suntam...You will love Caribe, but you will not want to go back home. I promise you that!
There is only one cure for baldness. It was invented by a Frenchman. It is called the guillotine.

Suntam, everything moves slow in AC, you will find that out as soon as you get off the plane. If you are in a hurry you will need to ask, ask, ask (drinks, check, etc.), or they will assume you are on their time...which by the way is not so bad, kinda makes you slow down a bit. My favorite places to eat were ELVI's KITCHEN (everyone loved it!, food and service were #1) and JAMBEL JERK [the original one] (my personal favorite and I would have eaten there every day if I could, food and service were great). We ate at many other great ones but those were our fav's

i wonder if the key is to go before or after the mealtime rush? we are early risers...no crowd for breeakfast yet at el divino (meals were always served fairly quickly)...and we often stop for an early or late lunch...rarely at noon. at suppertime, we are often the first ones in the restaurant...preferring to eat around 5 to 6. as i said...we never noticed any out of the ordinary slowness! then again...maybe i'm just more laid back and slow myself!!! "FAST" and "FOOD" don't even belong together, as far as i'm concerned!!!

Thanks for all your input guys!! By the way, I probably should of phrased my original question differently! I'm just looking for mouth watering food with a reasonable wait time, not fast food! (We can always order drinks if it takes a bit 'o time and then it won't matter!) Yes, those two words don't belong together I'd say. By the way 80% of the questions I ask on the board are for my wonderful hubby. We have four young kiddos and I kidnap him every two years or so to take him to a sunny tropical island. I am having fun gathering all kinds of local tips and keeping it in a journal to take with us.

Captjeff makes a good point about avoiding the use of Mayonaise on the Island. I had an uncomfortable experience in 2002 due to a sandwich that was pre-prepared with it. Following days i observed opened jars of the stuff unrefridgerated in numerous places! If you don't want to spend a significant part of your vacation in the "John" i'd avoid the stuff! Richard
