We have 8 full days in A/C May 28 - June 5, what are some things that we "must do"? We have Bicho booked for Monday,May 31st for a full day of fishing and snorkeling combo (including BBQ). Generally we hate having an itinerary, but also don't want to miss out on things we should see. Should we take a day to go to Caulker Caye? We are staying at The Palms, and plan on exploring north and south by foot and golf cart. Also plan on lots of R & R. Any suggestions would be great!

Don't miss a sunrise by oversleeping. Experiment with deviations from your normal eating habits. Caye Caulker is a fun trip over the water and is a chance to see a place that is even more laid back than SP, you could consider it to be R&R also. Try and get a gas cart, the battery jobs get a little iffy if you try and do north and south on the same charge. Walk around town with no destination and let your curiosity pull you into different places. Meet some locals, don't be shy, they are marvelous people. Take all the pictures you can, it may not seem important at the time, but it sure is important when you go into withdrawal. If you happen to be near a restaurant, check out their menu even if it isn't mealtime. Try a Belikin or two even if you are not a beer drinker. Use all your senses to absorb the flavor. Just relax and let the place work its particular magic.

Sounds like you have it all set,a great day of fishing, yes go to Caye Caulker for a day.Explore north & south and some R&R. Try several of the great restaurants in town. I,m with you, the less itinerary the better your vacation will be. Explore, relax, explore, relax, at your pace. The golf cart is the key, that way you can see a lot of the Island and its fun.

Bobber, Jack and Rose - thanks! It sounds like we have the right idea - we love to explore off the beaten path and meet the locals. Can't wait, only 19 days to go!

If you want to burn off a few more calories, we loved biking the island, rather than renting a golf cart. Heck of a lot cheaper too. The place is flat, and north of the cut, the road in some places seems much easier to navigate by bicycle than by golf cart. Of course, if you're staying several miles north or south of town, a golf cart would probably be something you'll need. Jean

nancyco just returned from San Pedro last night. We stayed at the Palms and it was great. The condo was beautiful, the service friendly, and the location was convenient. Just go and enjoy. We liked hanging out with the bartenders at the Blue Water Grill during happy hour and received some good suggestions from there on what to see and do. Just relax, talk to the locals and enjoy!

You must eat one of those Burritos at Rasta Pasta. It's so large that I consider it more an anomaly than a Burrito. The closest thing I can think that it looks like is the rolled-up blankets you see on the back of the saddle of a horse on one of those old western movies. Oh, and if you ask for the Habanero hot sauce, then that's exactly what you'll get - a hot sauce that consists of nothing more than sliced Habanero peppers in vinegar. Let's just say.....it's tad spicy.

Is there a preferred day trip to the mainland that anyone might recommend?

Nancyo, we were at the Palms the first week in Feb and really liked the place. Took a lot of nice shots there of the room and grounds if you'd like to check it out. http://community.webshots.com/user/bobber211
