IMHO Caribe Island has a large very nice beach. And Ramon's beach is beautiful with a great dock to swim and snorkel from. (see pics below if you want) 9 days and counting...mobunny http://www.unm.edu/~irmin/

Sir Isaac, how does a hotel with a high sea wall get a "deluxe" beach rating from you?
Also, I thought the beach at Caribe Island, was fantastic for the San Pedro Area. The beach at Ramon's is pretty nice too.

Lets be honest with Anna, there are no fantastic beaches on AC. Some are just better than some others. I think we have all been to beaches on other island that deserve the desingation:deluxe or luxury. They don't exist on AC. Yes Banyan Bay is very nice and my wife and I stopped while biking and had no problem using it to take a quick swim and cool off.
Sir Issac, I think your being a local may have had you giving out such high beach ratings. Let's face it nowhere will you find any places highly touting the beaches on web sights.
I don't think I would base where I stayed just because of the beach. You will most likely spend quite a bit of time roamimg all over the island anyway. Walking distance to town is important to some, lots of restaurants and it is here where you will experience the local flavors.

Jack and Rose, I certainly agree that the swimmable beach should not kimit the person seeking lodging. You can swim off of the dock at most of the resorts. Kat

I will agree, there are no fantastic beaches in the San Pedro area, but there are some beaches in the San Pedro area, that are fantastic *for the area*.

me thinks SIN was rating the lodging facilites, not the beach (mar de tumbo), since they are all basically side-by-side and the rating seems to appropriatley fit the lodging.

Oh, geez Louise, slapping myself in my forehead. You are so sharp, klc.
Of course, that must be what he meant.
