25 years means you weren't married yesterday and know how things work. Main thing, make the wife happy and all else will flow from that. So, does she like fancy, dressing up with intimate surroundings? Maybe she's a blue jean queen who likes a little less formal. Whatever tickles her fancy is going to be the best route to take. Is she into the water, or the jungle or anything else?

Snuck your second post in before I posted mine.
Since my wife is not into romantic dinners, no suggestion there. For lunch, my favorite is conch fritters at Estels. The Lamanai trip was enjoyable and fairly representative of ruin trips. Best beach, that's a hard one, maybe one of the little cayes that the boats take you to. Definitely get away from wherever you are staying for a cart trip of the whole island.

hey bobber,

we chose AC because it seems so casual as far as dining and such, we are both into snorkling and seeing the jungle and ruins. she is great and will enjoy everything i'm sure but i wanted to use the board's collective insight and pick the best of each...

Best romantic dinner for us in July was Mambo at Mata Chica. It is up North so shouldn't be too far from you. Don't know where you are staying but it is South of Portofino. Check out the map on this site if you haven't already.

Best lunch: there are so many! I can't pick! Well, OK it was the vegie and goat (I think) cheese sandwich at Fido's and my favorite new food: french fries dipped in Marie Sharps

Beach: Portofino

Ruin Tour: ???

Have Fun!!! smile

Robert K, we recently celebrated our 30th on AC and it was fabulous.

I echo klcman above on both suggestions. Daniel is amazing! Warning, Caliente means HOT! if you didn't know that.

The breakfast and lunch Daniel served on the Lamanai trip were some of the best we had, too.

Best dinner (for us) Ricos at Banyan Bay. Victoria House did not even make our top 5 list.

Not much for beaches, Capt. Morgans had the largest nicest, that we saw, but they have land sharks :-(

If you want a ruin tour go to Lamanai. I went to Altun Ha. It was OK but not great. Most of the tour operators include a stop at a jungle spa near Altun HA where you can go horse back riding or get a spa treatment. That might be something you would be interested in. I wnated to go Lamanai with Daniel but he was closed while I was in AC.

My 2 sents. Ha. I love Capricorn for dinner, the ride is very romantic if you don't dress warm enough, and lunch is very nice at Rico's. I really liked the AlTunHa trip because combined with the boat ride through the river then lunch at Maruba Resort made it a very special trip.
