When through with customs which way to tropical air? Can we get vodka or wine at a duty free in the airport before catching the plane to AC or will it be a big hassle? Will the cost be cheaper than on AC? It's going to be hard enough getting that case of Bud through customs as it is!!! I know some would leave it at home but my honey has problems drinking other brands (hops & wheat verses other?) or something like that. If they say no to the case can we pay duty or will they make him toss it? Thanks guys! Only 10 more sleeps!!!

As you clear customs, go through the doors directly in front of you, about another 15 feet look to your left. You will be right in front of the Tropic check in desk. This isn't a large airport. I would say you would have no access to the duty free, as you are now in country. You can hit the duty free in the airport you leave the US from, as you have an international ticket. I have found that it saves a few bucks, but unless you really pour it down, it isn't worth the hassle of protecting those glass bottles in your carryon. I found the vodka on AC to be about $5 US higher for a bottle than at home. I haven't had any experience bringing beer INTO Belize, as I prefer Belikin to anything else we have available at home. you can buy a case of Bud for about $60us at the grocery store,or you can go to the Belikin Warehouse & get the freshest beer in town for about 20us.

You won't be able to bring in beer (at least not beyond a bottle or two.) Belize protects its sole brewer (a newly wed, I understand) and its lucrative taxes with very restrictive import rules.

i think it depends on who is working customs the day you arrive. in the 7yrs i've been going to san pedro, i've never had a problem going through customs. just last june i brought a 30 pack of miller cans and a 12 pack of bottles to a good friend in san pedro without so much as an eyebrow being raised. of course, now that i have told on myself there may be problems in the future. oh well, we'll see how it goes this june.

Hmm, this raises a good question in my head... I know someone mentioned One Barrel in an earlier reply... is this Belize's own brand of Caribbean rum? Is it their only? How 'bout their best? I love checking out new an interesting booze, and I'm curious about what Belize has to offer...
