Tikal flies CUN-GUA-BZE infrequently...and you are right about the overnighter. Surprisingly enough, a ton of airlines publish flight details but the most direct seems to be the a/m or either through through FRS or MEX...And prices could be alot worse...starting around $300 all in...if you can survive an Aero/Alenia ATR...

Thanks for all the info. I guess the best bet would to be in Houston in time for the first flight into BZE. Anyone from CO have any other experiences?

Again, there are no scheduled flights from anywhere in Mexico to anywhere in Belize and haven't been for about three years.

Lan,Why not? and why not a boat from Cancun to AC??I asked a friend of mine thats a Merchant Sailor about the Yuk. Express and he said the biggest problem was the 9-11 Patriot Act. he knows the people with the boat, its in Texas right now.

It would seem a good business to have a run from Cancun to AC even once a week if feasible.

The Yuc Express was to be the "winter route" for the Scotia Prince which runs between NS and ME in the summer. They tried it one season between Tampa and Progreso (Merida)& shelved it citing lack of business and "porting issues". Interestingly enough, the website is still up, even though its not been updated in quite some time.

They also offered a now dormant Tampa/Cuba run....novel idea, but who the hell was their market?

Tampa/Cuba huh...as much as the Cubans would love to revisit their country they will wait for Fidel to meet his demise.

I told my friend Tony what you said and he said the red tape from the Patriot Act is the real reason...interesting but maybe they look at it different then Cruise Ships..

Lan,
Do you know why they discontinued the Cancun Belize flight?

A wild guess would be lack of profitability.

Financial concerns would be the most likely reason. I was curious if there might be more of a political issue.

What political issue were you thinking of?
