Hi SimonB,
I lived in Toronto for a year a long time ago. Went back for a visit not long ago, and couldn't believe how much it's all grown. One of my best friends moved from Oakville to Barrie about 3 years ago, (they are in the Subway business).
I sure don't miss the weather. After a year in Toronto, I moved to Buffalo!!!! I now spend my time between South Georgia and San Pedro! But I do miss the wonderful people. I worked in Niagara Falls as a tour guide for several years (yes, the "little waterfall" as it's often referred to by my Canadian friends).
Would love to meet you sometime when you are in San Pedro. Stop by Caribe Island and say HI!
Cheerz,
Vicki

Mikell,
You couldn't be further from the truth! I miss Buffalo terribly!!! I know it has a horrible rep, but it's truly my favorite place in the world, (when the weather is cooperating.)
The people are just incredible, very family oriented, outdoorsy, outgoing. The entire town is Sports-crazy (which I certainly fit into). It's beautiful countryside, and Niagara Falls is right there.
Of course, I was there during my high school and college days, so much has changed. But I still have great friends there, and Toronto is SO close too!
My friend who lives in Barrie also has a home in Costa Rica. She visited Belize last year and is considering "switching". Barrie is beautiful in the summer (and I'm sure during the winter, but I haven't braved that yet).
Any chance you will be in Belize again soon? Please look us up!!
Cheerz,
Vicki

vicki...

wish i could tell you that we have plans to come back...but it's only a "some day" wish for the time being...we will likely spend short term vacation time in florida checking out possible relocation places...we're getting tired of winters and want to make a move south in the next couple of years...and florida seems the most likely spot.

regarding buffalo...well...being in rochester, we are big BILLS fans...along with the usual griping about their performance...but always with high hopes for "next year"!

barrie is a nice spot...grown so much in the past couple of decades...i'm from much farther north...so barrie always seems like part of Toronto!

if we do get back to belize one day...YOU and YOUR PLACE are on the "must re-visit" list for sure!

Wow, I was looking at investment property in Belize for my Father in law who is originally from El Salvador but hows been in Toronto since the early 70's. It is amazing how many Canadians there are that are in Belize or are even relocating to what seems like paradise. Anyway, I was born and raised in Toronto, and attended College in Rochester, New York and Lived in Pensacola, FLorida and several other parts of the U.S. I have not had the chance of gettting to Belize but would love to by the end of this year. What are the best of times to head to this paradise island? Is there a meeting place for Canadians?.....I was thinking of Crazy Canucks....
Also, are there any good realtor websites for Ambergris Caye for land sales?......Thanks
J.D.

I lived in Oakville from 1969 (came over from Glasgow) until 2000 when I moved down here. I lived just off Burloak in Burlington for 3 years in the mid ninties as well. Shoot now everyone knows that I'm at least 36..Yeah, I am 36 that's right!

In Oakville I lived in Bronte, Charnwood, between 4th and Dorval just North of Lakeshore and in the apartments just South of Sheridan.

I worked for Commcorp in Burlington (now Newcourt/CIT) for 5 years.

And that's my history in a nutshell!

No more shovelling snow, GO trains, QEW or Gardiner traffic jams for me! I do miss bush camping near Sudbury every year, cottage country and the Boston Manor. I do admit missing being out in a really bad snowstorm just not the clean up.

On a sad note:

"The NHL canceled what little was left of the season Wednesday after a series of last-minute offers were rejected on the final day of negotiations."

I was in Burlington from 1962-1985, when I married and moved to the US. I lived about 3 miles from Burloak Dr, just above Lakeshore near Appleby Line. I go back every summer with my family to our cottage near Bracebridge. I can't get enough of cottage country! But I can say too that I don't miss the snow shovelling, and cold. It's great to hear from someone who knows my neck of the woods.

Great to hear your life in a nutshell, I played alot of Junior Hockey in both Burlingotn and Oakville and have many friends in both places. Mind you they are not far apart from each other. and as for Slomon, I have also played Junior Hockey up in Muskoka (Bracebridge). Now when you talk about cold winters now thats a place where spit literally freezes before it hits the ground. I also have a good friend who lives up there year round. Great place for celebrity sightings.
BAck to the topic, I am just curious to know what the make up is in Ambergris Caye. Young and Old? whats the lifestyles like? IS it easy to adjust to the different lifestyle?..... thanks in advance!
