My husband is a fly fisherman. We are going to AC in April. My husband would like to just go out on his own maybe via kayak and fish. Advisable? Thank you.

Not really, finding fish without a guide would be difficult, not impossible but difficult. The problem is finding the fish in the miles of flats without a proper boat to get you there. Better to contact one of the guides recommended on this board. His time will be much better spent and he'll be in a much happier frame of mind when he comes home from his day on the water.

We do have several visitors that fish from shore on the North side of the island. It is somewhat hit and miss, since there are often fish, but off of which dock is always the question.
He can have allot of fun as long as he loves fishing, but may not have allot of luck catching fish.
Town docks do not allow fishing, but he should have no problems on most docks North. The kayak would be fine.

nanajo there are bone fish, and other type of fish around the shallows and the shore as you are on a island ,but boat noise and other factors scare most fish away so need luck and skill to fly fish but can be done .but if you can spend a few bucks do trip with a guide prices start at only $190 us half day , he will have his best day in sanpedro .go to c from the uk photos on this page and look at there faces they fished with fishingsdanpedro.com for ten days and had blast ... look at the fun there having ,it will be worth the price of admission to see his face.... go live the dream and enjoy..

there are guides and there are great guides ..why not go first class ,go see what the very good guides get in fees .go with a good one and there are few very good ones here ...the good ones have new tackel ,nice boats and work all the time and know where the fish are when fishing is not the best they provide action packed days .. do not book just guy with a boat this is not a guide because he is cheap.. ask for refferals , see there track record check the guides out here book one then have a blast..

The Capt. is absolutely correct-get a fishing guide, not a guy with a boat. You're spending considerable $ on your trip, do what you can to make it enjoyable. Price doesn't guarrantee sucess, but there is a common sense price-point. One comment I sorta disagree with. There are schools of bonefish that have become accustomed to boat traffic, at least they return soon after being spooked. My first trip to AC I caught bonefish off Capt. Morgans' dock(was staying there) while their launch was going in and out. Also saw a school of the biggest bones I've seen around AC, right downtown off ***'s dock in mid-afternoon.
Flyfishing my way through mid-life crisis.

I just went out with Capt. Cevero easy going fun guy to deal with, gonna try out Bicho next week. I'm sure anyone that has grown up fishing around San Pedro would know where to catch fish. What I realized the other day was that catching bait is the key. The sardines were great but the mullets worked even better

Bassam, That was Severo Guerrero we fished with and yes, the mullets worked very well for those barracuda we caught . Sorry I didn't get a chance to see you again before I left but my wife had a snorkeling accident that required medical attention (she's fine now).
