WJ, the dues were set during the first meeting 2 years ago, by the members. It may or may not be fair. If the members want to adjust the dues, all you need to do is get a majority to say so. The dues were set low intentionally so as not to scare anyone away. Charter members dues cannot be increased as per the voting members.
