just a story, nothing more...

i used to live in the height district in san francisco, where the sale of drugs on the street used to be quite a problem. while i was living there a local group formed to deal with the streets at night. they made bright neon green tee shirts for all the members. some of them would meet every night and just walk the streets with flashlights and whistles. they were not thugs who would jump into a crime in progress, but they would just harass the bad elements into moving away from the stores and resturants and bars. they also printed bright neon green signs for people to put in their windows so if people tried to deal on the side streets they would see the signs in every window and know that they were being watched.

they were always friendly to the old hippys and drunks but were focused on making the out of town bad elements keep moving and hopefully give up on targeting the massive amout of tourists that walk the haight every night.
