deadserious, there is already a very well run poker room on the island.
And where would that be? Pedros? I don't know of any other poker on the island. And that's not really what I would call a poker room.
There is a casino currently operating and they are slower than anticipated. If you do the math on overnite visitors to San Pedro, it seems there aren't enough tourists to sustain a casino boat.
But we are not arguing the business sense behind such a venture, only the economic, environmental and esthetic impact of it. It's up to the business owner to decide the actual feasability of the venture as it's his money at risk.
Where does it end? Six Flags San Pedro? 10 story Hiltons and Sheratons? Worlds largest ball of twine? Universal Studios Belize? Tres Coco Kodiak Theater? Disney Ambergis Caye? Maybe we could cut down some ugly trees and build a NASCAR race track. The "Belikin 500".
Your argument goes both ways. Where does the protectionism end? Should we rid ourselves of all business on piers? How about all piers themselves? Airplanes sure are noisy, how about limiting travel to boat? Oh wait, we just rid ourselves of all piers... Perhaps we should flatten back street to replace all mangroves that were removed to build San Pedro town?
See, I can be just as silly.
