Pug, you know that "youtube" was a jab back at rykat's "cut and paste" info he always posts. It's old and tiresome. Some of us can have intellectual(somewhat) debate on politics and some can't without resorting to name calling. As you know, I'm all for a sign up US Chat section. And I think we should have a rule, no cut and paste, original thoughts only. That would save a LOT of bandwidth!
Now, back to Ronald reagan...:)

There would however be a need to post some sort of source documentation, A) So I would have something to refute B) To back up certain positions and stances C) So some people who are unable to link ideas of their own can join in "Original thoughts" are few and far between....most tend to be an individual perspective on a set of facts that may themselves be somewhat debatable!

Wisely put, Pug . .but yet . . limiting this thread (or any successor thread) to original thoughts will be problematic. Both the far Left (bereft of fiscal reality) and the far Right (bereft of fiscal decency) fight their battles with platitudes designed to keep any opportunties for common solutions impossible. The income gap in the US is obscene; the desire to socialize us unto Greece is no less obscene. Any original thought is welcome, but the best-educated morons of three continents have not solved human nature.

OK, we've established the fact that lawyers don't get to bed early enough.
KC has tapped on something that is a BIG problem, and is very seldom if ever mentioned. Human Nature. Face it, not everyone is the same. We have plenty of sheep. We also have plenty of wolves. I believe that the US has more than a smattering of sheepdogs also. Even tho not everyone is the same, we are programmed to believe everyone should be treated the same, unless it is for social equalization, power, or redistributing the wealth. We have one side screaming about helping EVERYONE regardless, and one side screaming that they are being forced to pay for the excesses of others, with the politicos in the middle raking off a portion for their "handling" of the perceived situation. Where the heck are the folks looking for a pragmatic workable solution, a middle ground?
Whining when someone offends your polical party, and then instead of trying to defend that offense, simply deflects on someone in the other party that is as bad or worse is laughable.
A lot of us are sick of it.

The political process has adopted the Jerry Springer model.

I agree. What does that say about our country?

I agree. What does that say about our country? That there are not enough Libertarians?
