Is Tropic Air still flying to Flores from Belize International?

According to their website, Tropic still offers tours to Tikal but it is a two nite deal. http://www.tropicair.com/en-us/tours/tikalovernight.aspx
I have been to Tikal twice, both times overnight. Once we stayed at the lodge on site and once in Flores. I would highly recommend staying overnite at minimum. Tikal is too big to try and do it, with travel in the same day.

I have been several times and highly recommend staying over-nite at least 1 night. I like staying at the Jungle Lodge at the entrance to Tikal. The Howler Monkeys in the night are unforgetable.

Hi all,

I've decided to stay two nights in Flores. The next question I have is whats the best way to get there from AC? It looks like 2 people on Tropic runs about $800 round trip, is there a better way?

Thanks!

The least expensive way to travel there is take water taxi from San Pedro to Belize City. From the water taxi terminal take a land taxi to Belize City bus station. From the Belize City bus station catch the bus for Benque Viejo which is the western border town in Belize next to Guatemala. It's around 3 hours or so bus ride. I dont remember where the bus stops in Benque so you may need to get a taxi to the border crossing from the Benque bus stop, but I think the bus goes directly to the border crossing.

Once you are at the Belize/Guatemala border crossing, go through the border and walk across the bridge on the Guatemalan side into the beautiful hamlet of Melchor. Once you are there you'll see plenty of Collectivo buses going to Flores (around $7usd per person estimate), and also some private taxi's that'll take you to Flores/Tikal if that's your preference.

Another option is to hire a private taxi in Belize city to the Belize/Guatemala border crossing. I think that should cost around $100usd, but that price may vary. Im sure someone on here has a good driver they can recommend.

twice a day (I think at 10am and 1 pm) a bus goes straight from Belize City to Flores in Guatemala and Tikal. No stops, no bus/taxi changes. The total trip takes about 5 hours to Flores. When I did it a couple of years ago a one way ticket was around 15 usd.

Great point! I had forgotten about that, as it wasn't an option when I originally starting traveling out west. That's defiantly the best way to do it.

Tropic is no longer doing their day trip. However, we have a guide who will pick guests up from the 8:00 SPR-BMP, take them on a tour that day, they overnight in the park, then take the 8:30 from FRS to BZE.

We just arranged this. It's the more expensive route, but I guess it depends on how valuable your vacation time is.

Cost including land and air transport, tour, lunch, overnight at Jungle Lodge is $560 US per person

Peggydoo - This is a FANTASTIC option! I've been to Tikal at least 10 times, and I never knew about this way of getting there. I've taken private tour charters, rented my own vehicle, hired a taxi, just about everything other than this. I'll DEFINITELY be giving this a go. Thank you so much for the information!!
