I think the biggest change, is that with changes coming SO fast, OLD people are obsolete.

It used to be that with age came wisdom. "Oh yes, I've seen this situation before, and here's how it was handled." The "stories" of horse-drawn rides to school are just stories now, no lessons learned, no need to advise on HOW to best prepare to ride to school in a horse drawn sled.

When things change every year, this accumulated wisdom loses its value. People lose their value.
