The argument about harming Bowen's Belizean workers livelihood if his beer stranglehold is infringed on is just utterly ridiculous.

Imagine if Bowen had monopoly on all retail trade in Belize and they came up with the same ridiculous BS when someone was trying to open their own independent store, or sell produce from their plantation or fish they caught at a market without going through Bowen.

We all know that having no restrictions on who can grow cabbage, onion, potatoes, corn, raise chicken and cattle is a way do go. It's good for the producers and it's good for the consumers. Do we agree on it? Even if the market is as small as in Belize?

If we agree that that monopolizing production and trade of cabbage or potatoes is a bad idea (remember soviet bloc?) what makes beer different?

Why would the market forces that work for many competing small and big agro producers, traders, shopkeepers, etc. and allow them to support their families and keep the economy going suddenly didn't apply to beer?
