No idea what evidence there is against McAfee, if any at all. At this point, obviously we have to assume he's innocent unless and until proved otherwise.

All we have is the statement attributed by Jeff Wise to the head of the GSU that McAfee is "a prime suspect." However, the formal police statement as reported in Wise's Gizmodo article today and in the San Pedro Sun today (and now in many other publications around the world) is just that McAfee is being sought for questioning. A Wall Street Journal story this afternoon quotes Raphael Martinez, a spokesperson at the Belize National Security Ministry. "Mr. Martinez said [it] was too early to call Mr. McAfee a suspect but said 'if his story does not add up, he may be arrested and charged.' "

On the other hand, I also don't know what the evidence is that the writer Jeff Wise has a "vendetta" against McAfee, as Simon Backley claims. Certainly Wise has known McAfee for a number of years. Wise's 2007 article in Outside's Go Magazine seemed to present McAfee in a fairly positive light, and the 2010 article by him in Fast Company somewhat positively, though perhaps less so. Wise's Gizmodo article of last week, based on Wise's revisit with McAfee in Belize, does present McAfee in a less than positive light, as does of course the Wise story today.
