They have been getting material form the North and driving it South past us all Friday. Doing that they messed up the road badly here, but I talked to one of the drivers and he said they are going to fix it again next week. The roadsection between La Perla and Canary Cove (former Kitty's) was made back in 2004 and paid for by the residents and resorts to divert traffic away from the beach.
Spectacular sight to see them driving by slowly as the ground is sinking away under the trucks and float up again when they have passed. The road here is actually a hardened top layer that floats on the marsh. Once the top layer breaks it becomes impassable. That is why the road can never be used for heavy traffic, unless -in my opinion- it is filled up all the way to bedrock and that is about 4-7 feet here.
