Harriette, why do these locals you've talked to, think the clock tower is a good idea? Do they know what it will look like when completed? Are they pleased with the idea because it will slow traffic? Are they aware that it may cause serious problems for the firetruck and parades, etc?

Yes, I think it will be quite an eyesore because of the jumbotron, but a nice clock tower would be OK placed elsewhere. Though must admit, a clock in San Pedro seems a bit incongruous.

That said, it is personally interesting to me to know what non-gringo locals think of this tower. As has been pointed out, what the gringo residents and/or tourists want shouldn't be the "be all/end all".

This clock tower isn't going to stop people from coming to San Pedro.
