WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Our friends from Orvis were able to rack up bonefish at will, Joe, John, John #2, along with the returning cast of Bret, Byron, Bragg, David, Rich, Bob, Mike, Jim and Kevin. Lots of father and son teams Jim and Luke, John and sons Brett & Todd, Dad Gerard with son Gerry, Peter with son Jonathan Our Rio Fly Line group Simon, Marlin, Tim, Wayne, Zach, Jonathan, Leslie and Curt all got a taste of the prolific bonefishing here at El Pescador. Later in the week, Carnet, Patrick, Alex, and Bob came to El Pescador and started out with some solid bonefish tallies.

PERMIT (Palometta): Steve got the first permit of the week when he and his wife rented a golf cart and off he went north of the lodge wading on his own. His tale is that a group of three were tailing and his first presentation of a shrimp got no results, he tied on a crab and cast 6 feet away and waited for them to move near the crab… one twitch and gam on! Brett had a bunch of shots at permit on Tuesday but they just wouldn't eat. Tim with the Rio group was first to score a permit and credits his Captain, Emir, for the effort. Since the permit was caught fairly early in the day they looked for a likely tarpon to complete the slam but to no avail. Permit for Rio Fly Line's Simon with Capt. Cesar Kevin who lives just down the beach fished with Capt. JR and landed a nice permit.

TARPON (Sabalo): Moon and Marlin jumped a couple tarpon to begin the week with Capt Emir. Simon got his first poon ever!! Yippeee! He thanks Capt. Cinoeh!! The next day he brought another to the boat while being guided by Capt. Cesar. Kevin jumped 2 today… one was 80 pounds and bent the hook. Tarpon Ho for Tim of the Rio Fly Line Group.. a beautiful 50 pounder with Capt. Emir. A huge tarpon for Kevin thank in part to Capt. Jr. It was the biggest I have seen this year as it looks more like a migratory fish even though it was caught on our resident tarpon flats surrounding Savannah Caye. Smith Optics filmed a tarpon day led by Capt. Alex with Olympic snowboarder Scotty getting some tarpon fever!

Grand Slam: Week slams go to Simon and Tim from Rio for landing all three species over their 5 day trip. Not quite a grand slam but still noteworthy.

OTHER SPECIES: Jacks, Cudas, ladyfish, snappers, cudas

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - The usual suspects, CI Special's

FOR PERMIT - Hand tied shrimp by Tim, Avalon, small mantis shrimp

FOR TARPON - double white bunny, Grizzly tan bunny, Green toads, and Black Deaths

Guide of the week: JR for a huge tarpon, and beautiful permit for his guests!!

This Week's Summary:

Wow, the fishing was good, with tarpon eating often and permit available and biting daily. Pretty good weather all week helped the cause, as did a contingent of talented anglers here at the lodge. We had great fun with the Rio Fly Line and Smith Optics folks who were down testing gear and shooting some promotion photos and video.

Cast to your dreams!
