FISHING REPORT
Weeks of December 18 - December 24th, 2016
Weather Conditions:
Good weather, with a couple days of clouds and a few showers
Many people look at the forecasts in the US and see Thunderstorms and rain every day… this is not what is happening on Ambergris Caye. We are usually much drier, some days we have a shower or two followed by full sun so don't rely on those forecasts!!

5-15 mph out of East, North and Northeast alternating all week.
Air Temperature:
80 to 88 degrees with lows between 70and 76 degrees
Water Temperature:
Temp: 80 F. degrees
Barometric Pressure:
1015-1021 mbar
Sunrise: 6:20 am Sunset: 5:22 pm
Moonphase:
The last quarter moon was on December 13th
WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
Lots of bonefish for all who made the effort. Lots of first bonefish were landed this week with special kudos to the youngsters Elina and Noni. Zach was another special mention for his first bonefish ever!
The largest fish of the week was 5 pounds and we had an 18-fish day on one boat.
PERMIT (Palometta):
Joe got his coveted permit although Rikki's (his wife) was indeed a bit bigger! Banks, a teenager at the lodge, was very proud of his first permit. Fletcher also landed a permit and was awarded hi permit achievement pin on his last evening's ceremony.
TARPON (Sabalo):
The tarpon fishing was good this week if your name was Brooks! 7 tarpon to the hand in one day - a bunch of others were jumped. They were all in one little area and there were a lot of them! This happens once in a blue moon; but I am happy it happened to him as he wanted a single tarpon with all his angling heart.
Other tarpon anglers were successful as well. Mark started off the week with his tarpon, Meredith got a beauty, and Pete rounded out the week with his prized catch.
OTHER SPECIES:
Barracudas, ladyfish, Snook, snappers, Jacks
GRAND SLAM:
No such luck this week!
FLIES THAT WORKED
FOR BONEFISH -
Christmas Island Special size 8\, Crazy Charlie, Small gotchas
FOR PERMIT -
CI Special, Avalon, Camo Crab
FOR TARPON -
Green toad, Cockroach, Blue and white deceiver
This Week's Summary:
The Christmas season is here - the lodge is full with lots of families taking advantage of the warm weather and great fishing! Merry Christmas!
Fish On!
