There was a hearing at 9AM this morning on the request for an injunction against the road between Mata Grande and Colonia San Diego. The court made its ruling on the request for injunction, and yet again it was denied and thrown out of court. The Parties behind the request for injunction were referred back to the San Pedro Town Council as they are responsible for the Mata Grand Road Project. As stated previously, there was no injunction in place before this hearing, and there is still no injunction against the road project. There had been a request for an injunction, but through due process of law, it was rejected for the many reasons previously stated.

This is a government road project of the San Pedro Town Council that has gone through the proper approval and permitting process of the Forestry Dept., Department of Geology and Petroleum, and the Department of Environment. Is the cost of the road being paid for with voluntary donations? Absolutely. There is no one denying that the San Pedro Town Council does not have the money necessary to care for all the roads and infrastructure needs of San Pedro Town and its outlying areas. Personally, I would like to see more property owners and developers step forward to contribute the funds necessary to improve the entire length of road north of the bridge. The same is true of the road south of Victoria House.

How many people live on the beach front in beautiful condos or houses and enjoy paying ridiculously low property taxes and then complain when the Town Council doesn't have the funds to improve roads or infrastructure? Where are their checkbooks when it comes to donating funds to support the Town Council and its efforts? It's easy to be critical of the Town Council for not doing more. And it's easy to be critical of someone donating funds to the Town Council to help with town improvements. If more people would do the same, it would become the rule rather than the exception, and maybe the Town Council could do more for the benefit of all residents.

Just for the record, I have no affiliation with the Town Council.
