It has long been my opinion that developers should be held 100% responsible for necessary improvements for and to their property.

As you point out, this is particular important inasmuch as the town council cannot afford the improvements clamored for and property taxes are ridiculously low.

How the matter of property taxes may be dealt with is beyond me. Certainly, it would be inappropriate to raise taxes across the board, for then many original Belizeans would be harmed, and I suppose I shall have to extend that to some less than original Belizeans too. :^)

When property taxes were raised here at home a few years back, the city actually looked at how long homes had been owned by the live-in owners, and under certain criteria, the taxes were not raised for those that qualified.
