If I remember correctly this joke originated when certain religious leaders decided to build a community center in the shadow of the World Trade Center. This project was soon dubbed the "Ground Zero mosque". Now, who was being more offensive, the religious leaders or the person who wrote the joke I'll leave to someone else.
